MPM 2D: On Monday many of the students used an additional period to work on the Unit Test from Friday. Today we completed the section on the primary trig ratio - Tangent. We used it to solve for side lengths and angles. We also applied it to solve problems. Some students requested more time to complete their Unit Test. Today's seat work was Page 362 - 364 #6,7, 15, 18.
MBF 3C: Today we examined exponential decay and growth with graphing calculators and substitution. Page 390 #1-5 and 14. Students need to hand in Page 367 # 1-3, 8 and Page 361 #1-5,9,10,10 for feedback. There will be a half period Unit Test on Thursday.

MPM 2D: Today is Grade 8 Shadow Day so we have postponed the TIPS Summative in class assignment until Monday, November 8th. Today we continued our work on quadratic relations using technology (graphing calculators) and drawing conclusions from the general equation.

MPM 2D: Properties of a Triangle. Page 124-125 #1 to 4
MBF 3C: Continued work on parabola translations. Reviewed the concepts of vertical compression/stretch, open upward/downward, sliding on y-axis, and vertex. Introduced vertex movement along the x-axis. This was reinforced by connecting ordered pairs on the Cartesian grid and using the graphing calculator. Students were assigned page 200-201 #2,4,5 and to be handed in for marking.

MPM 2D: Introduced properties of triangles. Examined how to verify parallel lines. No homework, but it was suggested to attempt Page 124 #2 c,d
MBF 3C: Class was required to hand in Parabola seat work from Page 175 #7, 9, & 10. As a class we completed several examples using graphing calculators and graphing on paper. Also, we examined how parabolas are transformed by sliding along the y-axis, upward/downward opening, maximum/minimum point (Vertex), and vertical compression/vertical stretch. Seat work was Page 194 #4,5,6,7.
